Match the zipper to its application

Consider the garment or product weight, opening design, expected frequency of use and appearance. A zipper for denim, a jacket pocket and a bag may need different construction and finishing choices.

Decide whether the design calls for a separating or closed-end zipper, the opening length, tape colour and visible or concealed teeth. Confirm the construction with the product pattern before ordering.

Check material, size and compatibility

Review tooth or coil style, slider operation, stops, tape and finish as a complete assembly. Confirm that dimensions and components suit the intended fabric thickness and sewing process.

Where washing, abrasion or other care conditions matter, test a sample in the finished construction. Do not rely on a product name alone to confirm suitability.

Approve a production sample

Inspect sample operation, alignment, sewing compatibility, colour and finish. Include the zipper in a representative garment or bag sample so the team can assess it in context.

Document the approved specification, colour reference, length and revision. Share expected quantity and application when requesting a quotation or sample discussion.
